Eight Shot Journey

We was given a task to make a silent eight shot journey video using the cameras provided to show a short story. Getting from one place to the next.

What is an Eight Shot Journey ?

An eight shot journey is made up of eight shots, put together to form a short story.

What is a Shot?

A shot is a period of action on screen, once the action has finished thats the end of the shot. A shot is made up of frames.

What is a Frame?

Frame is what makes up a shot, a frame is a single cell of film. A frame is a still image, but the camera takes loads of still at once to make it look like smooth and the action is one movement.

Evaluation of My Radio Jingles

This past week I have been producing jingles for a radio show. I made a promo, station Ident and a news jingle, the promo can be up to a minute long station Ident had to be 8-10 seconds long, and the news could be 15-30 seconds long. I used the programme sound booth which is on the Mac’s.

First I made the promo which took me a day as it was my first time using the programme and I was getting use to it. first I chose to base it on a morning show as I had songs in my head already that I could use and effects that I believe would work well. I used 4 songs which was kanye West – Good morning, John legend-Good Morning, Pink Floyd-Time and 50 Cent-Disco Inferno, but cut them down so I hand 10 seconds of each then added sound effects to merge the tracks together. Then record my voice and others on the Mac, then placed it over the instrumental. I was very happy how it turned out as it sounded really good and other people said it went well with the effects such as fading, I put in and the voices I used, I don’t believe I could have made it any better, it lasted 46 seconds.

Next I made my station Ident, this only took me half a day as I was use to using the programme I made this 15 seconds short and catchy, as this was used to advertise my show. I used 1 track and a couple effects and Loads of voices to get the name herd loud and clear and so it would be remembered. Again I felt this turned out really good as it went well and is very catchy. I believe it was the right amount of time as it was long enough to remember but not too long you got board with it.

The last one I made was the news jingle; this was the most fun to make as I made it more fun. I put many voices in it, different sounds, this was more of an experiment seeing what happens when I fiddle with the tempo, effects, volume levels and fading.

I was still very happy how it turned out. The only thing I was not happy with was the time it lasted, it lasted for 26 seconds which I believe was just a little too long and maybe a bit repetitive.

Overall I was very happy how they turned out and really enjoyed this project; I found the programme Sound Booth really easy to use and quickly new the ins and out of the programme.

Radio Jingles

Radio Jingles

For this we had to make up three jingles. Show promo jingle(up to a min), Show Ident jingle (8-10 seconds) and a News Jingle (15-30 seconds long). we did this on the Mac's using the softwere Soundbooth. we had 2 days to make these jingles. We listened to BBC 1xtra, BBC radio 1 and BBC radio 4 jingles to help us understand what a jingle was.

Key Codes And Conventions

we had to take in to consideraction the, Target audience (what age group), Music (rock,pop,hip-hop rnb dnb etc), Relevent infomation (the show name etc), Sound effects and name of presenter guest's etc.

Evaluation

I feel that my pictures did not go as well as i wanted, as my pin hole camera was not completely light tight, also it was not strong. This ment when we painted the inside black the card went bendy. Therefore you cant see the images clearly. Also the timing was a big factor on the first attempts as the picture came out completely black which means there was to much expolsure. When i put the pictures in photoshop and played around with them you could make the images more relistic or you could just make the picture crazy. If i was to do this again i would use a tin or something like a pringle tin as it seemed to work better, they came out clear and you could clearly see where the picture was taken.

This is my first attempt picture but i have put it in photoshop and put effects on it to try make it look more real. It came out less real but makes it even more intresting.

First Attempt At Pin Hole

This was my first attempt. This is a picture of the front of the college, as you can tell it didnt turn out as well as i hoped, but it still has some intresting shapes and lines, but nothing you could make sense of. I thourght the exsposure was too long so i changed my exposure time from 20 seconds to 10.

We was given a task to make a pin hole camera out of a box or a tin. It had to be light proof, blacked out on the inside (so no light would bounce around), Photo paper on the inside to capture the picture.A pin hole camera contains an lens, Apertrue and a shutter.

Lens

the camera captures the light from the subject and brings it to focus on the film or detector.

Aperture

is an hole or an opening through which light travels, in photography this can be mesured F.Stops.

Shutter

a shutter is a device that allows light to pass for a ditermind period of time, for the purpose of exposing photographic film or a a light sensitive electronic sensor to light to capture a permonent image of a scene.

Exposure

This is how long you leave the shutter open for. This is one of the most important parts of this task as if you leave the paper exposed for too long it will come out black if you leave it too little it will come out white.
